This Privacy Policy explains how LSN Lab ("LSN Lab", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use our websites and products, including Lingoshade and GoalTamer (together, the "Services"). We apply the same privacy-first standard to all users, regardless of location.

2. What data we collect

  • Account information — such as your email address and authentication identifiers when you register or sign in with Google, Apple, or Microsoft.
  • Profile and settings — such as display name, language preferences, and learning or planning settings.
  • User-generated content — content you create in the Services, such as audio recordings and vocabulary lists (Lingoshade) or goals, tasks, and notes (GoalTamer).
  • Payment information — when you subscribe, payments are handled by Stripe; we receive limited billing details (such as plan, status, and the last digits of your card) but not your full card number.
  • Usage and device information — such as IP address, browser and device type, and how you interact with the Services, collected through analytics.

3. How we use data and our legal bases

Under the GDPR, we process personal data on the following bases:

4. Service providers and sharing

We share personal data only with service providers who process it on our behalf under appropriate agreements:

  • Hosting and infrastructure — Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon Web Services.
  • Payments — Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record and an independent data controller for purchases of paid plans, under its own terms and privacy policy.
  • Analytics — PostHog and Google Analytics.
  • Speech synthesis — Azure Cognitive Services (text-to-speech), used in Lingoshade.

We do not sell your personal data. We may disclose data where required by law or to protect our rights.

5. International transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, to protect your data.

6. Data retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services, then for any period required to meet legal, tax, or accounting obligations or to resolve disputes. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights

If you are in the EEA, you have the right to:

  • access your personal data and request a copy in a portable format;
  • correct inaccurate data;
  • request erasure of your data;
  • restrict or object to certain processing;
  • withdraw consent at any time; and
  • lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

8. Security

We use technical and organisational measures including encryption, access controls, and regular reviews to protect personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

The Services are not intended for children under 13 (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us so we can remove it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are material, we will notify you by email, in-product, or on our website. The "last updated" date above reflects the latest version.
